Riviera - unique quartet woodwind instruments Riviera

The woodwind quartet «Riviera» is one of the unique young Belarusian music creative group.   The ensemble was organized in 2006 on initiative of four enterprising and restless young musicians, who decided to devote themselves to co-making music. Each member of the quartet is a soloist and a laureate of multiple international competitions and festivals (Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Estonia, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Faroe Islands, Spain, China). Besides, among the participants of the ensemble there are scholars and laureates of the Special Fund of the President of The Republic of Belarus for Supporting of the Gifted Youth.    Since the day of its foundation, the collective has been leaded by art director Maksim Nikolaevich Rassoha – talented musician, teacher and arranger.

The ensemble is made of the best Belarusian woodwind players:

Wide art range of the quartet lets draw in the multifarious subjects of music, written for different instrumentation, styles, genres and epochs: from the mysterious Renaissance to the eccentric avant-guard, and, besides, the original arrangements: world folk melodies, music from favourite movies and cartoons...

Quartet members live the rich creative life, reviving and popularizing Belarusian music within the country and abroad, looking for rare and unpablished scores and manuscripts in archives and libraries, reconstructing and adapting it for the performance. Owing to clever arrangements (the ensemble performs only the original settings), the audience can go into unknown and previously never performed pieces of Belarussian composers.

The art director Maksim Rassoha, beeing the author of all arrangements, succeeded in solving the most important problem – by means of four performers, to show the richness of characters, colors and emotional-psychological nuances of music pieces; sometimes, even to masterly replace the sound of symphonic orchestra. For the arrangements of the programs “Old Belarusian Music of the 18-19th Centuries” and “The Music of E.A.Glebov” Maksim Rassoha has been awarded the state scholarship in nomination “The best art project of the year” (2009).

In total, the repertoire treasury of the quartet there are more than 700 pieces, and annually it widens with dozens of new arrangements. During the 10 years, the new concert programs have been beeing developed, such as “Russian Music of the 18-19th Centuries”, “Music of Soviet Composers”, “Old Belarusian Music of the 18-19th Centuries”, “Musical Heritage of Belarusian Composers of the 20th Century”, “Fantastic Dances”,“The Music of E.A.Glebov”, “Belarusian Music for Children”, “Musical Masterpieces of Western Europe of the 16-18th Centuries”, “Foreign Music of the 18-19th Centueries”, “Bach – Shostakovitch”, “The Soviet Cinema Melodies”, “The Popular Music Hits”.
